Ta-Shue Chou Lectureship Award

Objective

The Ta-Shue Chou Lectureship Award is offered each year to an outstanding international mid-career scientist, who contributed significantly toward organic chemistry, ranging from new synthetic methods, total synthesis of critical organic molecules to advanced organic materials.

  1. Recognize and reward internationally renowned mid-career scholars in organic chemistry (suggested age range 40-55 years old)
  2. Celebrate individual achievements who contribute significantly to the organic chemical society
  3. Increase awareness of Taiwan internationally and establish international friendship among internationally renowned scholars and organic chemists in Taiwan
  4. Promote role models who can inspire young people to pursue academic lives and careers

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Hold foreign citizenship and is currently a principle investigator in foreign country
  2. Be mid-career, which is defined as having received their highest degree no more than twenty-five years from the year of the award
  3. Serve as an inspiration to young people, through their creativity, outreach or mentoring activities
  4. Be capable and willing to bridge the Taiwan and international chemical institutions and societies

Nomination Process

At January every year, the selection committee starts to collect nominations for the next year from within the institute. The nominator may need to give a short presentation to the selection committee to support the candidate. The decision should be made by the end of February to ensure enough time for the award recipient to arrange the visiting schedule.

Selection Process

A screening committee headed by the director/deputy director with several faculty members of Institute of Chemistry, Academia Sinica of the organic chemistry background selects by the winner from the nomination pool.
